It is that time of the year for new resolutions, renewed energy and fresh perspectives on all that is dear to our hearts. At The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), upskilling Malaysia is a cause near and dear to us.
We started January 2019 with a bang with the appointment of a new chairperson to our Board of Directors, Datuk Noor Farida Mohd Ariffin. She was the former Malaysian ambassador to the Netherlands and also sits on the boards of Ecoworld Development Group Bhd and Aerospace Technology Systems Corp Sdn Bhd.
Alongside her appointment, HRDF also announced six (6) action plans for 2019 namely: 1) Bringing Wrongdoers to Book, 2) Strengthening Our Enforcement Measures, 3) Training 1.2 million Malaysian Employees, 4) Creating Job-Ready Graduates, 5) Raising the Quality of Training Professionals, and 6) Becoming an Employer of Choice.
As we strengthen our enforcement measures, more than 7,000 Malaysian employers are in the process of being compounded for failing to register with HRDF as required under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (“PSMB) Act 2001. Malaysian employees are encouraged to speak to their HR departments to find out if their company is registered with HRDF to enjoy the benefits of upskilling and learning and development.
To kick off 2019, here are some good reads for you. For Malaysian employees, find out where you stand on the salary scale this year and also how to get work done in less time.
And for those seeking inspiration, read about how Malaysian Dr Bernard Arulanandam was recently named as a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors of the USA. The recognition is the highest professional distinction awarded solely to academic inventors.
We wish you a bountiful and prosperous 2019!
